Sad to hear about Roy Dotrice passing. Was first introduced to him when he was on Space 1999. He always played great character roles. His reading of the Song of Ice and Fire books were great. RIP.

I really wish humans would stop being terrible to each other. Also Nazis with tiki torches really!? WTF. Hasn't humanity learned anything.

Finally after three days I got my office computer back online. With the basement carpet around my computer wet and moldy I had to rip up the carpet, get a dehumidifier, throw out the old wet power strips, replace with new ones that are on the desk not the floor, rearranged a bunch of stuff and now I finally feel safe enough to turn everything back on. Office is still a mess. Will continue to rip out carpet until it's all gone. Since I already started it I might as well replace it with something that I won't have worry about getting wet again.

Hot days

Been very hot. Mow lawn yesterday since according to the forecast it was the coolest day of the week. Today proved it right and the next few days are going to beat them for high temps.

Watched first episode of Space 1999 again in honor of Martin Landau death today.

Game went very well. They really liked the map so I will do others in the future. Will have to figure out how to make the Hexes easier to see in low light. I didn't want them to over power the image but they were a little light for the room we were playing in. Live and learn.

I've been playing around with Campaign Cartographer to make a battle map for my GURPS Technomancer game. I'ts been a long time since the last game and I wasn't happy with how I ended the last game. (I didn't feel well and I was very tired that day.) So as a surprise and personal goal for myself I made this map. It not the best but not bad for my first effort in a long time.

Just sent back my first report on the new edition. In all I like the changes and the new layout and some new art are going to make it more appealing.

Finished up Cyteen by C.J. Cherryh today. A very impressive book. It did a great job both keeping me entertained and making me think about the subject matter of the book. I loved how we are introduced to the main character then she dies and then were are told how she grew up through how they raised her clone. They wanted her to be raised how her predecessor was hoping that she would be a genius too. Very interesting and cool ideas and the author pulls it off very well.

One of my co-workers retired today. I envy Kim her new found freedom. She's planning to start writing full time now.
aota: (Munchkin)
I've been playing lots and lots of Munchkin and several other SJ Games this weekend. Doing the MIB thing. You know this was way easier when I was younger. Thinking back I've been doing demos and playtesting for SJG for over 25 years. I'll have to figure out what the actual number is when I'm less tired. Funny I met my wife because I went to Dragoncon to work the both for SJ Games and demoed a couple of GURPS games. I guess this really has been a major influence on my life.

Movie was a lot of fun with lots of laughs. Sometimes it is fun being an older comic collector I'm able to get the Easter eggs on the first watch of the movie.

Mowed the lawn again. All the rain we had gotten last week caused a big growth spurt. The yard looks pretty good now but It really needs me to spend at least two hours twice a week to keep it up. Unfortunately I currently don't have the time. Maybe after I retire I'll be able to spend more time working on it.

Got my 05/23 package from SJ Games they really loaded it up with lots of good stuff. Lots of promo items and some new games too. My gaming schedule for Conquest/Undercon is sorted out. Will doing SJ Games Munchkin and maybe a few other games. Will be doing the MiB thing demoing and giving out promo items.

This was on of the shorter Myth books and also a start to stories staring the other characters to M.Y.T.H Inc. All the stories were amusing but the book does end in a bit of a downer. As Skeeve and Aahz relationship ship seems to be falling apart and something bad is happening in Skeeve's home dimension of Klah. Fun book but seems more of a set up for the next ones than a continuation of the series.

A great GURPS setting for lots of exciting and silly fun games. The full color art work from the Mars Attacks cards just make this book visual treat. The author helps the game master to create a logical and fun background for their Mars Attacks campaign. Helping the GM with suggestions and advice to keep the action moving and not to let players get board.

Rogue One

Picked it up today and re-watched it. Still a very good movie and stands up well to a second watch. It will be forever in my Star Wars day re-watch list.

Day off today. Went to Walmart, pick up the fore mentioned Rogue One and other stuff. Tried the new Mod Pizza place after picking up M from PT. Wasn't bad. Toppings were great crust was some what tasteless. Prices weren't bad either.

They are working on a new GURPS Prime Directive and I have been offered to do GURPS checking on it again. I'm looking forward to doing it. From what I read it will mostly be a lot of edits and rearranging of information. What is even better this time is that I'm more experienced with 4th edition now and I won't be doing it at the same time I am traveling and going to classes for work.

Slow day at work. Caught up on a few things but mostly just waiting for the phone to ring. Allergies are also kicking my ass today.

Started Fuzzy Nation by John Scalzi the audio version read by Wil Wheaton. It's a reboot and modernization of H Beam Pipers Little Fuzzy. So far it is pretty good.
